We counted 44 species, which was our highest weekend count since late May.
Migrants included 5 warblers (Common Yellow-throat, Palm, Magnolia, Redstart
and Palm), Gray Catbird, Summer Tanager and Warbling Vireo. The period
between 9:00-10:30 CDT, this morning, was especially active: we had six
Palm Warblers together in the south yard at one time (FOS spotted on the
deck steps yesterday), two Summer Tanagers in view at one time and two
Yellow-throated Warblers at the birdbath at the same time. I spotted
Yellow-throated Warblers at and around the feeders a number of times today;
even picking suet at one point. The Shrike was our first sighting here
since spring (like it knew today was the equinox!). Notable misses: Black
Vulture, C. Nighthawk, Blue Grosbeak and Blue-grey Gnatcatcher, which were
sure finds in previous weeks.
