I was feeling better about this 38 species list until I looked back and saw
we'd counted 46 on this weekend last year! We did see some special stuff,
including a Merlin for the third weekend in a row. We watched a Kestrel
harassing it on Friday night, which provided a good relative size
comparison. It seemed to be gone today.we're thinking it waited to give
Frank Lyne a look, then headed out.

We added a FOS Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Northern Harrier and Swamp Sparrow,
though my highlight was a really good look at a lovely male Hooded Warbler
on the pond thicket yesterday. That's another house-list first. I also saw
a Swainson's Thrush in the thicket yesterday, for only the second time ever.

Today there were Yellow-rumped Warblers everywhere all day, including
several that were tagging along with the Bluebirds. I probably spotted them
together a half dozen times. I have seen Pine Warblers foraging with
Bluebirds, but Yellow-rumps behaving like this was new for me. Our hummers
were here on Wednesday and missing Thursday. I thought this was to be our
first autumn weekend list without them, but one buzzed past the window, just
at sunset tonight.
