[birdky] Rpt: Reformatory Lake

My wife & I went out to Reformatory Lake in Oldham county this morning (1/20/09)and it was loaded with waterfowl, 18 different species. The Shovelers were all together in a tight group that was swirling counterclockwise. It looked as if they were cooperatively feeding. I had not seen this behavior by them before. Quite something to watch.

We also went out to Spindletop yesterday (1/19/09) to look for the flock of Lapland Longspurs. We managed to find only one flock of about 40 Horned Larks with a single Lapland in with them. We did however find a couple of Rusty and Red-winged Blackbirds in a big flock of Starlings and Cowbirds.
