Note on the immature Golden Eagle. Jim could not decide if this bird was indeed an eagle or if it was in fact a Rough-legged Hawk. He believed that the bill was too small for the bird to be an eagle. The field marks observed was an overall dark bird. The tail was white with a back terminal band with a clear distinction between the black and white, seen from both the top and the bottom. There were also distinct white patches in the wings at the base of the primaries also seen on both the top and bottom of the wing. A tawny color was also obsereved on the top of the wings across the shoulders. Observations of the head was noted by one to show a little tawny coloring and by others to be light, almost white in some light.
