[birdky] Rpt: Bald Eagle Nest Hopkins Co.

Good news from Hopkins County. The Bald Eagles have not abandoned their
nest as we had feared. We finally managed to go by when both birds were on
the nest and they appeared to be feeding young. We had the good luck to
accidentally find out that a former student of mine and his dad are leasing the
farm where the eagles are nesting and they have erected a no-trespassing sign
and wire posts at the entrance to the wheat field to protect the eagles. They
gave us permission to scope from a site on a side road and we got some pretty
good views. (It is amazing that the eagles are still there. They have endured
having all of the trees cut beneath the wires along the side of the very
heavily traveled road and some other intrusions.)
We still have a Red-breasted Nuthatch visiting our feeder daily and today
we had a Yellow-Rumped Warbler on the suet.
