This post combines three mornings at the Riverwalk in Shawnee Park in western Louisville. We're all still without power at home, so I'm posting this from my work where I thankfully have power. The windstorm took a very heavy toll on the Riverwalk and Shawnee golf course. Many huge trees are down and even more limbs are broken off and hanging or on the ground. It's really tragic to see. On a brighter note, the Park service has already cleared the path of massive amounts of debris and the field trip this Saturday should be a great one.
Here are the warbler highlights:
Connecticut warbler - 2 of 3 days. On Tuesday one bird skulked as they do low in the weeds, but then he hopped up on a bare branch to give us all great looks.
Ovenbird - at least 3
Black-throated Blue - female - just 1
Blue-winged - several
Golden-winged - several - at least one seen each day this week
Tennessee - many
Nashville - just a few
Chestnut-sided - dozens
Magnolia - dozens
Black-throated Green - just a few
Blackburnian - just a few
Bay-breasted - several
Black-and-white - many
American Redstart - the most abundant warbler
Common Yellowthroat - just a few
Wilson's - several
Non-warbler highlights
Rose-breasted Grosbeak
All the vireos except Blue-headed and Bell's
Many Swainson's thrushes
Carol Besse, Pat and Jane Bell plus Colleen Becker on Tuesday
