[birdky] Report, Logan-Todd Common Migrants

10 August 2008:
 
I visited a pond (sink with cattle the permanently holds water) on the
Simpson-Logan County line yesterday.  This sink/pond is near Middleton, but
within Logan County rather than Simpson County.  I have referred to it as
Crocker Pond and KY 100 Pond in the not too distant past.  Anyway, present
yesterday were 3 Wild Turkeys (in the field behind the pond) 23 Canada Geese
in a flyover, 1 Spotted Sandpiper, 10 Least Sandpipers, and 3 Pectoral
Sandpipers.
 
Today at Guthrie Swamp, I observed about 40 Canada Geese, but did not count
them, 1 Wild Turkey (running down the middle of a road that forms the state
line between KY and TN), 1 Bald Eagle (adult), 6 Great Blue Herons, 6 Great
Egrets, 9 Least Sandpipers and a few uncounted species including Summer
Tanager, Eastern Peewee, Great Crested Flycatcher, Eastern Kingbird, Common
Yellowthroat, and Turkey Vulture.
 
That concludes this report.
