[birdky] Red-tailed Hawk chicks, Screech Owl

The sun was shining when I set out this morning, but by the time I walked to
the Red-tailed Hawk nest woods it was overcast and rumbling. Crummy picture
taking conditions. I thought last week there was just one hawk baby left but
saw 2 again this week. One chick hunkered down out of sight as soon as it saw
me but the other chick was resting with its head tucked back, appearing
headless. It looked up when one of the parents screamed, then began watching
me, but did not hunker down.
Nearby, for the 4th week in a row, a gray-phase Screech Owl was roosting in a
little Beech Tree. Light was way too low for a picture through the scope but I
got a tiny image from about 30 ft. with the plain camera set on time release. I
got away this time without disturbing the owl, so may yet get a chance to
photograph it in good light conditions.
