Late yesterday afternoon I sat for while in a lawn chair placed in the path
leading through the Giant Ragweed patch in the corner of the backyard. It
wasn't long before I spotted a female Rose-breasted Grosbeak, but I kept
thinking I should have more payoff than one grosbeak for the summer long
impression of sloth I have made on my neighbors by allowing such a large patch
of ragweeds to grow. After a while I gave up and retreated from the ragweed
patch. As I looked back one last time I spotted a flock of a dozen
Rose-breasted Grosbeaks perched in the Walnut trees towering over the ragweed
patch, just waiting for me to go away.
Also spotted an Ovenbird on our afternoon walk to the woods.
