I spent a few days at the Falls of the Ohio this weekend, and a little over an
hour at Cave Hill Cemetary this morning. I spent the better part of 3 and a
half hours on Saturday straining my eyes trying to identify a heat
wave-covered, distant grebe I was almost sure was a Western but could not get
the bill. Went back the next day and saw clearly based on size and distance my
bird was a Horned Grebe; heat waves are the biggest bane to this hobby.
Highlights were a flock of 40+ Pine Siskins at Cave Hill and an ad. Bald Eagle
