[birdky] RPT: West KY last week

I was in western Ky last week; it was amazing how small a number of
passerine migrants were evident; I only heard a few Blackpolls and
Maggies and Swainson's Thrushes. Waterbirds, too, cleared out, although
on Wednesday (16th) there was a little fallout of shorebirds including a
few Sanderlings (Kuttawa breakwater and Ky Dam), and I ran into Ruddy
Turnstones at 3 locations (Camp #9, Union Co., Paradise TVA Lake, and
Kuttawa Breakwater --- 6 at the last location with 5 Sanderlings).
Single adult Laughing Gulls (same bird?) were on Lake Barkley above the
dam two days; and I think it was on Thursday that I saw a couple of
Black Terns on Ky Lake above the dam. Waters are receding on the river
systems and a few Least Terns have returned.
