[birdky] RPT: South Todd and South Christian Highlights

I birded today in south Todd and south Christian Counties this morning and
early afternoon.  I have listed highlights below.
 
Todd County:  Transient Wet Spot along US 79
 
4 Lesser Yellowlegs
5 Pectoral Sandpiper
1 Least Sandpiper
14 Bonaparte's Gulls
app. 20 American Pipits
 
Todd:  Guthrie Swamp
 
4 Greater Yellowlegs
3 Vesper Sparrows
Northern Harrier male
 
Christian County  :Morgan's Pond
 
App 800 waterfowl and similar including
app 300 Gadwall
app 150 Blue-winged Teal
200 American Coots
 
Decent numbers of 
Northern Shoveler
Green-winged Teal
American Wigeon
Mallard
Lesser Scaup
 
Small numbers of
Greater Scaup
Redhead
Pied-billed Grebe
 
1 Bald Eagle adult was a personal highlight and a Christian County species
for me.  A nice Northern Harrier was also observed.
 
Swallow Springs had good water but fewer birds
 
Observed were
17 Hooded Mergansers
3 Greater Scaup
2 Pied-billed Grebes
3 Horned Grebes
 
Both Christian County water bodies contained good amounts of water and did
not show signs of significant recession.  I expect that they are near crest
with current rain, but I could be wrong as my experience is limited with
these bodies.  The US Army did not question me on this visit to Morgan's
Pond, but I recommend against scoping the airfield of Ft. Campbell.
Morgan's Pond north/nearest body of water is an old corn field and viewing
shorebirds would be quite difficult.  The south/farthest body of water is in
a wheat field and shows no "ring" of debris or muddy area of dead wheat.
