[birdky] RPT: Shorebirds at the Falls of the Ohio, 5 Sept.

Very good shorebirds at the Falls tonight, all on the fossil beds:
9 ruddy turnstones. Mary spotted the flock as it was coming in at 7:37 pm.
They immediately began preening and settling in.
4-5 sanderlings. One tight group of 3, and one or two others.
3 buff-breasted sandpipers.
3 black-bellied plovers, 2 of which seemed to come in with the turnstone
flock.
2 semipalmated sandpipers (May have been many more, because I left many
peeps unidentified, including 2 possible Baird?s.)
25+ least sandpipers
8-10 pectoral sandpipers
2 greater yellowlegs
2 spotted sandpipers
Many killdeer.

Also 3-5 Caspian terns and an adult bald eagle flying down river below Wave
Rock.

Wave Rock was empty, except for a few killdeer.
