[birdky] RPT: Sandhills in Rowan County

A group of about 40 sandhill cranes passed high over head this afternoon
here in Rowan County.  In bird feeder news, one pine siskin is hanging out
with the goldfinches at the feeders.  The feeder birds have been scarce so
far this fall.  Goldfinch and dove numbers are starting to increase.  The
nuthatches, titmice, and chickadees are practically ignoring the feeders.
I'm guessing they are still feeding on beechnuts in the forest.  Not
positive, but I think doves are feeding on beechnuts along the road edges.
I see doves along the roads here and there and they are invariably under a
beech tree.
