The female Oldsquaw remained on the Ohio River at Taylor Park,
Campbell/Kenton Cos today. It was back up in the mouth of the Licking River.
Also present at the Watertown Yacht Club, a couple of miles farther upstream
was a really cool looking imm male White-winged Scoter in the company of a
couple of female Greater Scaup. The bird is completely sooty
blackish-brown, with the neat feathering on the base of the bill of a male.
Thanks to Frank Renfrow for suggesting a stop at this spot and to Joe
Caminiti for driving us there; unfortunately, I have no idea exactly where
we were at the time, although I think we followed KY 8 east to Dayton, KY
and to the marina. This is one of those little spots that is tucked away
and probably checked regularly only by Frank :o)
