[birdky] RPT: Odd Bird in Logan County plus human gibberish regarding birds

20 February 2008:

An "odd bird" showed up in Logan County yesterday. Unfortunately, it was an
individual of a common species.

Yesterday morning for 1-2 minutes, a mostly albino Common Grackle attended
the ground below our bird feeders. The Grackle was "whitish", rather than
white, had a dark eye, and whitish wing feathers that appeared to be tipped
in dark/brown/black. The bird was did not appear "splotchy" at all and was
evenly "whitish", except for the streaks of dark/brown/black along the
primaries and other wing feathers.

This bird is part of a large flock of "blackbird species" that has decided
to eat all the bird seed on the ground below my feeders on a daily basis.
This behavior seems to happen annually at my feeders and I associate this
(rightly or wrongly) with the end of winter, the last real cold spell, or a
harbinger of early Spring.

Also, I stated on an RFI regarding Purple Martin House/Gourd entrances that
I would summarize the responses in a later post. That post is now and the
next line contains the summary.

That was funny to me; I hope you enjoyed my attempt at humor (above).
Apparently, my RFI was funny to many as no one responded to it.

Returning to this post subject, this individual demonstrates that Frank Lyne
and I are not the only "odd birds" in Logan County.
