This may change slightly as more information comes in, but I wanted to send
this out (finally).
The North American Migration Count for Jefferson Co. (Louisville), Kentucky,
was held September 15, 2007. Beautiful day with temperatures 51-70 and N
winds 0-10 mph. Fifteen participants in 10 parties tallied 122 species and
6,051 individual birds.
At least two of the observations sent people scrambling to see the birds: 2
clay-colored sparrows at Melco and a red-necked phalarope at the Mayfair
basin.
We also had other reports of birds that are unusual for the Fall count:
peregrine falcon, n. bobwhite, black-bellied plover, greater yellowlegs,
olive-sided flycatcher, 8 (!) red-breasted nuthatches, blue-headed vireo,
prothonotary and worm-eating warblers, Savannah sparrow, and bobolinks.
Other species with unusually high numbers reported include black-crowned
night-heron, black vulture, killdeer, and palm warbler (32 reported!).
Unusually low numbers were reported for pileated woodpecker (3) and
yellow-throated vireo (0).
Thanks to the participants for a great count: Michael Autin, Jane and Pat
Bell, Dan Casey, Diana R. Dubbeld, Eddie and Jennifer Huber, Aurilla Lesley,
Brainard Palmer-Ball, Brian Smith, Carol Stallard, Matt Stickel, Barbara
Woerner, and Ben and Mary Yandell.
I've copied the details below.
