Location:     Nettleroth Bird Sanctuary, Cherokee Park, Louisville
Observation date:     3/21/09, 7:30 PM to 8:15 PM
Notes: 
  Stationary Count. Weather: Clear skies, dusk, no wind, cool with temperature 
declining
from low 60s to mid 50s F. The plan was to stake out under the Ginkgo
tree at the top of Maple Hill Drive behind the Nettleroth Bird
Sanctuary on the off chance there would be a Woodcock display. No
woodcocks. But the pair of Great Horned Owls were a nice surprise.

  2    A pair of GHO's appeared at 8:10, a few minutes after sunset.
They sat in a tree together for a short time, then separate neighboring
trees and hooted a duet. After several minutes of that, one flew away.
