Not many species and nothing out of the ordinary. But it was a gorgeous, cool autumn morning to be out. About 1/3rd of the birds were at the path entrance beside the bridge at the foot of Maple Hill Road. Not a bad place to bird to get your bird RDA in quickly. Here is my report: Location: Nettleroth Bird Sanctuary Observation date: 11/5/08 Notes: Sunny. Temperature 46 climbing to 63F. Beautiful autumn morning. Cedar Waxwings and Robins feeding on spicebush berries. Number of species: 19 Accipiter sp. 1 90% sure it was a Cooper's. But it was on the wing and in the treeline flying away from me. Mourning Dove 3 Red-bellied Woodpecker 2 Downy Woodpecker 2 Blue Jay 6 Carolina Chickadee 4 Tufted Titmouse 7 White-breasted Nuthatch 2 Carolina Wren 1 Golden-crowned Kinglet 2 American Robin 20 Cedar Waxwing 7 Song Sparrow 4 White-throated Sparrow 19 Dark-eyed Junco 1 Northern Cardinal 3 Common Grackle 160 Four flocks flew over. Purple Finch 4 American Goldfinch 11 Couldn't get any to turn into a Pine Siskin.
