[birdky] RPT: Minor Clark Fish Hatchery Red-necked Phalarope still present 9/22

After seeing Lana Hays's gorgeous photos of the juvenile Red-necked
Phalarope at Minor Clark, I couldn't stand not to see it. Hatchery
personnel checked Pond #39 for me this AM and said the bird was still
there, so Shawchyi Vorisek and I ran up there this afternoon.

What a gorgeous little bird! Still seemingly without a single basic
feather on it yet. It has a very pronounced limp but is feeding well and
flew around a bit giving it's distinctive little "ket" call note as some
spooky Killdeer and an Osprey put it up a couple of times. The bird is,
predictably, very tame, however, and after it returned to feeding, I
slowly walked up to within 6 feet of it without it giving a thought to
my presence.

We didn't see much else on the few drained ponds; 4 Pects, 3 Least, 1
Spotty (heard), 1 Wilson's Snipe, and 1 Great Egret the only non-common
waterbirds encountered.
