June Ann Perkins emailed me this morning with the following info about her
adult male Rufous Hummingbird. This little guy should be on the move soon! It
will be interesting to see if he hangs around longer than Jackie and Diane
Elmore's female that stayed until April 7, 2004 after spending all winter with
them in Warren County.

I've been getting a real close look at Rusty for the past few days, and he is
definitely molting. His throat feathers were real messy and thin looking a
couple of weeks ago, but now I see big, new orange feathers. Also, his
whistled flight is back and his wings look longer. He has been here with us for
5 mo.! Can you believe that? I have enjoyed that tiny bundle of feathers,
ferocity and heart soooo much!
