Was glad to be out most of this pretty day.
Highlights:
Falls of the Ohio ... 1 first-year Franklin's Gull with 3 Ringers; that was
it on the gulls; only a small pod of divers/coots in the basin.
Melco ... flyover Lapland Longspur; 3 Least Sandpipers
Home ... 4 flyover flocks of Sandhill Cranes; one containing 31 birds had a
first for me, a Whooping Crane in with them. Looked like a juv. so may have
been one raised by Sandhills??; saw the Black-throated Gray 3 times with
Eddie Huber 12:00 ish to 1:30 ish. I first found it bathing in what had to be
only about a cup of water in a depression in a tarp over some firewood in my
cousin's yard! Eddie & I got very nice looks at it about an hour or so later
in the spruce trees right by the house and kept up with it off and on for
about 1/2 hour; flyover Lapland Longspur; 3 Rusty Blackbirds; Andrew
Melnykovych had a flock of 8 or so siskins on one of the White Cedars.
