[birdky] RPT: Louisville area regulars

Looked around the Louisville area a bit over the weekend.

Was hoping for something like Snow Buntings or a Glaucous Gull, but nothing
of the sort to be found.

At the Falls of the Ohio, there are a pretty good number of Ring-billed
Gulls, but only a couple of Herrings (can't imagine this weather has not
been cold enough to bring us at least a few more than have been around all
winter?). Cormorants and Great Blues remain in small numbers (<25 each) and
the few ducks included four Bufflehead and a male Common Goldeneye. An
American Pipit flew over at the overlook.

Elsewhere along the river, only more regulars with not even the typical
scaup flock anywhere to be found.

The fields in our area are almost bare of even Horned Larks for some
reason???

Out at the La Grange Reformatory Lake, the Ross's Goose reported last
weekend remains, and there are at least a couple of Blue Geese and a Snow
Goose with the several thousand Canadas. Other waterfowl included a couple
hundred Mallards, some Blacks, 26 Northern Shovelers, 3 Lesser Scaup, and
two male Am Wigeon.

There's now a pretty good collection of birds on the Snyder Freeway quarry
lake near Old Henry Road but I passed by before I could stop. Heading
south/west on Snyder, you can get off on Old Henry and re-enter the highway,
stopping on the ramp and get a look. There were at least a couple hundred
Canadas and some Ring-necked Ducks.

Today I had an American Tree Sparrow at the feeding station . . . the first
of the winter.
