05 May 2011: Water has risen markedly at all transient bodies of water in Logan County. I actually thought to myself, holy "excrement", this pond grew. The KY 739 Transient Pond covers approximately 2x its previous maximum observed size and now contains an island. (Past observations at this location are NOT extensive.) Present today were: 5-May-2011 Logan KY 739 Transient Pond Mallard 2 Blue-winged Teal ~10 Pied-billed Grebe 2 American Coot ~10 Semipalmated Plover ~10 Lesser Yellowlegs ~20 Solitary Sandpiper 1 Other species noted included a Summer Tanager, Wild Turkies, and Killdeer Water was also high at the Hall's Store Transient Pond. Observed there today were: 5-May-2011 Logan Hall's Store Transient Pool Solitary Sandpiper 1 Lesser Yellowlegs 8 Mallard 1 Hen with 10+ ducklings Water at the US 431 Transient Pools was exceedingly high, but no interesting birds were observed.
