26 April 2010:

After observing Frank Lyne?s post regarding a Wilson's Phalarope at the KY
739 Transient Pond, I had to go back and actually walk down to it today.
(Yesterday, I had scanned it from the road and came up empty.) (I had been
lazy missed a really good bird, at least for me.)

This afternoon, I visited the pond and walked to it on foot instead of
scanning form the car. I was rewarded with a nice view of the Phalarope In
addition, as I was leaving, I flushed a Sora from the weeds surround the
pond. This is also a really good bird, for me.

Species observed this afternoon of note are below:

? 2 Blue-winged Teal
? 5 Wood Duck
? 2 Northern Bobwhite
? 1 Sora
? 1 Solitary Sandpiper
? 17 Lesser Yellowlegs
? 2 Pectoral Sandpiper
? 1 Wilson?s Phalarope (female)
? and 10 + Savannah Sparrow.

Note that access the transient pond requires hiking through knee-high wheat
and that all persons who lack the knowledge required to avoid damaging the
wheat should not visit the site.

That concludes this report.
