[birdky] RPT: Little Stint update for Sunday, August 20th

Heavy thunderstorms mid-day Sat and early Sun AM raised the water level in the
retention basin remarkably by early this morning, but enough habitat was still
present to keep most all the shorebirds at the site. The Little Stint continued
to forage mostly on mid-lake bars. It seemed a bit more flighty today, but that
may have been simply due to the reduced cover from the mosaic of bars that had
become exposed by our recent dry weather. Two Cooper's Hawks were the offending
disrupters today. The stint was catching up on its sleep when the last of us
left about 2:00 p.m. EDT this afternoon.

Turnover continued to be generally lacking again today with the only addition a
nice adult Black-bellied Plover that dropped in from the gray skies and rested
for an hour or so before one of the Cooper's Hawk sorties. Pecoral Sandpiper
numbers were over 100 again today, with the juv. S-b Dowitcher and at least 5
juv. Stilt Sandpipers continuing as well.

Tonight will be a prime one for departures, but hopefully the stint will find
the accommodations enough to its liking that it will continue to grace us with
its presence.
