[birdky] RPT: LBL vicinity Sept 25th

Yesterday I assisted with a TVA shorebird survey on Kentucky Lake. I
covered the head of some bays on the west side of LBL with predictably
very few waterbirds present, plus checked a few other sites in the area.
Highlights:

13 spp of shorebirds overall
Black-bellied Plover -- 2 juvs at Jonathan Creek
American Golden-Plover -- 3 juvs at Jonathan Creek
Stilt Sandpiper -- 7 at Eddy Creek and 8 at Jonathan Creek
Western Sandpiper -- 1 at Eddy Creek and 3 including a late adult in
basic plumage at Jonathan Creek
Bonaparte's Gull -- first year below Smithland Dam
Lesser Black-backed Gull -- at least 3, probably 4, maybe 5 (Lk Barkley
off Boyd's Landing -- adult; Ky Lake mouth of Bear Creek (adult; 3rd
year; pretty first-year); Ky Lake off Little Bear Creek; another or same
adult/3rd year)
Laughing Gull -- juv/first-winter at mouth of Bear Creek, Ky Lake

VERY few terns around with the wad at Jon Ck the only large numbers;
only a couple of Caspians still on n. Lake Barkley. Only 2 American
White Pelicans on n. Lake Barkley; waders are really clearing out.

Passerines were limited in abundance; I wonder if all the wind from Ike
cleaned the canopy trees of most inverts???
