Past two days were devoted to farm work in eastern Jefferson County.
While combining our Indian grass fields, there were loads of interesting
little birdies moving about, but without binoculars in hand, I felt
confident with only a few IDs.
October 24: 1 rail sp.; 1 Sedge Wren; another Cistothorus wren, probably
a Marsh; 1 Henslow's Sparrow; 1+ Vesper Sparrow; many Savannah, Song and
Swamp; probably at least one or two more Ammodramus sparrows; 1
Bobolink.
October 25: 1 Le Conte's Sparrow; and the same fat Bobolink again. Last
year there was also a single Bobolink in the fields in late October, and
it, too, was noticeably fat.
