[birdky] RPT: Garvin Brown/Hays Kennedy Parks, Jefferson Co.

Several of us birded Garvin Brown Preserve and Hays Kennedy Park
yesterday morning. What a gorgeous day ... we deserved one after all the
nasty, cool weather recently. As has been reported for elsewhere, there
was much on the move and in the bushes. Our highlights included: several
flocks of flyover waterfowl including Ring-necked Ducks and two Northern
Pintail, a few flyover Horned Larks, Tree Swallows and American Pipits;
a Marsh Wren; 2 Nashville Warblers and an Orange-crowned Warbler; 10
species of sparrows including several Vespers, a few Savannahs, a great
look at a LeConte's, a couple of Fox, and a Lincoln's; a flyover Lapland
Longspur (calls only ... no visual); a few Rusty Blackbirds, and a
flyover Pine Siskin (call only again ... no visual). We also saw a
couple of tardy Monarch butterflies.
