Sorry for late post ...

Probably 12-15 of us revisited the Falls of the Ohio yesterday afternoon. I was
pretty gloomy but conditions were good enough to find all of the rare gulls we
saw the previous day. Eddie Huber sat down at the Overlook and promptly found
the adult California Gull within about 15 seconds! For the next two hours is
was usually in view and provided nice study for the distance. We were able to
see leg/feet color pretty well, seemingly olivey-yellow in most lights. The two
Glaucous Gulls, the Iceland Gull, and the Lesser Black-backed Gull were only
seen up in the main basin above the Falls where they roost, but the two
first-year Great Black-backeds were studied off and on on the outer fossil beds.

Earlier in the day, Brian Johnson had relocated the Red-throated Loon off
Duffy's Landing on the Indiana side; this is opposite Cox's Park. Several of us
were able to see the loon as it dove closer to the Indiana side from both Cox's
Park and the parking lot for the Caperton Swamp Nature Preserve just upstream.
I believe Barbara Woerner then saw it again from Duffy's Landing early
afternoon.

All of the recent scoters also continued yesterday.
