[birdky] RPT: Falls of the Ohio 9/9/08

Several folks birded the Falls of the Ohio today. I birded with Eddie Huber for
awhile this morning and Michael Autin called me this evening with some
additions to the list, most notably for the Falls area, a juv. Yellow-crowned
Night-Heron, which he saw on the pools out by the main dam wall where the
willow trees start (right of straight out from the Interpretive Center
overlook). Eddie and I "aced" the 5 peeps this morning, something that is hard
to do in either spring or fall, especially in the Louisville area :o)

Most all the action was down on and below Wave Rock for Eddie and myself this
morning, but it sounded like Michael was seeing most stuff out on the main beds
this evening.

Also this morning, Alan Goldstein of the Falls staff pointed out to me a flock
of at least 45 Sterna terns (Forster's/Common) passing by the Falls in the
channel between the dam and Shippingport Island. I believe most or all were
Commons but the dull light and distance made me uncertain.
