[birdky] RPT: Connecticut/Mourning Warblers, etc., Jefferson Co.

Ben & Mary Yandell came over to the family farm yesterday to poke around for
late warblers. We were successful in seeing both a male and female Connecticut
Warbler; plus we heard at least 3 Mourning Warblers and Ben got looks at one.
Other migrant warblers were absent other than a possible Canada heard. We also
saw a Philadelphia Vireo and a few Swainson's Thrushes. It continues to amaze
me how inconspicuous Yellow-billed Cuckoos remain; I have yet to see or hear
one up around Louisville.

In the afternoon, while raking a field of hay, I noted Tree Swallows nesting in
a bluebird box; I know this is nowadays a relatively frequent occurrence, but
since I started birding on our farm in 1973, this is the first time I've had
nesting Tree Swallows!

Hap Chambers reminded me that while we were banding at Clarks River NWR last
week, we also banded a female Bay-breasted Warbler, as well as some Swainson's
Thrushes, 2 Veeries, and a Gray-cheeked Thrush. I also forgot that I saw an
Olive-sided Flycatcher.
