[birdky] RPT: Clay-colored and Nelson's Sharp-tailed sparrows at Louisville

Yesterday afternoon on the NAMC, Eddie Huber found two Clay-colored Sparrows at
the Melco flood retention basin in southern Jefferson County. Today, Ben & Mary
Yandell, Matt Stickel, Eddie, and myself returned to see if we could refind
them and thanks to a little persistence and Matt's keen eyes, we did. The birds
were in saplings and weeds at the east (back) end of the basin loosely
associating with a mixed flock of Blue Grosbeaks, Indigo Buntings, Brown-headed
Cowbirds, Song Sparrows, Palm Warblers and Tennessee Warblers.

Others highlights from our search included a Bobolink, 2 Savannah Sparrows, and
great looks at an early Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow.

Members of the Beckham Bird Club may be returning early this coming week to
revisit the Melco basin. If anyone would like to try to hook up with BBC
members at the site, you can contact myself or Jane & Pat Bell
(beckhambc@xxxxxxx) to see if anyone is planning to be back out there. Jane &
Pat Bell may be revisiting Monday morning; being as it is pretty late on Sunday
evening, I'll offer to try to get you in touch with them if you email or call
me tomorrow AM at work 502/573-2886. I think a Monday visit would be in the
morning only (recall that this site is not open to the public, but that BBC has
arranged visitation for BBC/KOS members).
