[birdky] RPT: Cave Run Lake Area 5/9

The weather was not the most perfect for the 12 th Annual International
Migratory Bird Day, but it did not stop folks from getting in the woods.  Fred
Busroe, Lew Korman and myself recorded 81 species for the day.  We had 12
species of warblers with great looks at a Kentucky Warbler on the Scott's Creek
Road.   The Bald Eagle Nest #2 at Renyolds Hollow put on a show.  The two young
ones sat on the nest while being fed, flapped and every once in a while did
some white washing.  The parents were bringing food about every 45 minutes or
so.  We also saw 3 Common Loons.  I only saw 2, but Jim Williams assured me
there were 3.  I was distracted with helping folks see the eagles

Highlights at Minor Clark Fish Hatchery included about 30 short billed
dow-witchers and a dozen or so Willets.  Also had Least Sandpiper, and a couple
of Spotted Sandpipers.  A few Forester's Terns were on both the lake and at the
Hatchery.

As I was leaving the Cave Run, I drove across the damn and 40 or so Willets
were flying around the dam.  They acted like they wanted to land but just could
not make up their minds to do so.   All in all, a great day to be out.

Thanks to all the folks that came out...we had nearly 40 folks for the day.

On another note, eagle nest #3 is not visible with the leaves on.  We'll just
have to keep watching to see what happens with that nest.
