Work had me in Owen & Gallatin counties yesterday afternoon so I dropped by the
Ohio River in the vicinity of Warsaw. There weren't many birds, but I did get a
nice female Black Scoter with two Pied-billed Grebes at the big bend at the jct
of US 42 and US 127. A flock of 23 Northern Pintails flew up the river there,
too. Otherwise it was mostly very small numbers at a couple of other spots I
looked at; 3 species of gulls in low numbers were at Markland Dam including a
first-year Herring Gull and 2 adult Bonies. Double-crested Cormorants
outnumbered all other species 10-1 in this stretch of the river.
