[birdky] RPT: BBS Route Ramblings

June 4, 2002:

I ran by Keysburg BBS Route through Southwest Logan, South Todd, and extreme
Southeast Christian Counties Sunday, June 2, 2002.

Of the 60 species tallied, none were particularly noteworthy.

The most interesting observation was the large number of water birds for
this route. Great Blue Herons, Canada Geese, and Wood Ducks were noted in
record numbers, and a Green Heron (rare for this route) was observed. Other
species were as expected with Red-winged Blackbirds, Common Grackles, House
Sparrows, Mourning Doves, and Northern Cardinals being the 5 most abundant
species respectively.

Horned Lark, Barn Swallow, and Eastern Bluebird numbers were also up;
Dickcissels were down from past years. Eurasian Collared-Doves were again
noted in Trenton.

That concludes this report.
