[birdky] RECENT SIGHTINGS IN WESTERN KY

Highlights of the past few days include an increase in waterfowl numbers in
Ballard county. Totals are up but several common dabblers are absent or in
very low numbers. The biggest increases are in Snow and Canada Geese and
Mallard and Ring-necked ducks. Lapland longspurs have been reliably seen at
the Smokey road feedlot in Ballard county for the past week but I have not seen
any Brewer's blackbirds there since the 31st of December. Birds of interest
seen today at Ballard and the dams area include:
Gr-Wh-fronted Goose
Snow Goose
Canada Goose
Wood Duck
American Black Duck
Mallard
Northern Shoveler
Gadwall
American Widgeon
Canvasback
Ring-necked Duck
Lesser Scaup
Common Goldeneye
Bufflehead
Hooded Merganser
Red-breasted Merganser
Bald Eagle
Lesser-blk-bk Gull (1 adult and 1 subadult @ KY dam)
Yel-bellied Sapsucker
Horned Lark
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Brown Creeper
Golden-cr Kinglet
Lapland Longspur

Scott Record
Ragland KY
