[birdky] Pulaski

While birding Pumphrey Farm, Pulaski Co. today Gay Hodges and I came across an American Woodcock feigning injury and leading us away. We found a very small, cute woodcock chick snuggled down in the leaves. After taking its picture we backed away for fear of stepping on an unseen chick. We also saw a blotchy, first summer male Blue Grosbeak.

I saw my first Wood Thrush of the season this morning when it crashed into my door. It was able to fly away, so hopefully it was OK.

Birding smiles. . . . .
