This afternoon I went down to the pond hoping for more swallow photo ops. As I
approached the edge, a warbler flew down from a cedar, lit within four feet of
me, caught a bug and flew back up into the cedar. Seeing that no swallows were
circling over the mud flat, I decided to sit in the shade and see if that
warbler would return. It did return once and caught another bug just a few feet
from me. I couldn't get a picture either time, but saw that it was dull olive
above, yellow below, had vague black lines on its side and a pale area around
its eyes. Nothing else fit except female Prairie Warbler. I have not heard a
Prairie Warbler singing anywhere in my immediate neighborhood ever, so I
suppose this must be a post breeding wanderer.
