While visiting my son in GA I also ?watched the birds.? His house? is in a
former pecan plantation with each yard havinjg 4 - 5 mature ?trees that bear
lots of nuts.? Each day several mixed flocks of birds go from yard to yard
eating any broken pecans.??There were dozens of chipping sparrows, a few yellow
rumps and pine warblers, purple finch, house finch, goldfinch, a few cardinals,
robins, and one lone chikadee.? He also has a yellow-bellied sapsucker working
on a front yard tree.??
We went to Piedmont National Forest to scare up the Bachman sparrow and
Cockaded woodpeckers but a burn had just been completed and not a bird was in
sight.???
