[birdky] Peabody WMA 3/27/04

It was a fine day for sloshing around in the marsh areas at Peabody WMA.
Melissa Easley, Roseanna Denton and I spent a few great hours chasing the
specialties of the area.
A dark morph Rough-legged hawk gave us a thrill as it soared and hovered
while we watched through our scopes. Four Virginia Rails called and gave us
nice
looks as we stood ankle high in muck. A LeConte's Sparrow sat in a tree for a
quick study. An American Bittern called and flew to a safe haven. A Marsh
Wren was seen and heard, a Sedge wren sat for an ID and then moved on.
Other birds of interest seen:
Common Loon
Blue-winged teal
Osprey
Northern Harrier
Red-tail Hawk
Turkey
Wilson's Snipe
Bonaparte's Gull
Rough-winged swallow
Pine Warbler
Field Sparrow -everywhere
Savannah Sparrow
Swamp Sparrow
Birding is SO much fun!
