[birdky] Osprey Hatchings

Lake Barkley Osprey Cam - The second egg of three is beginning to hatch this
morning, nice hole in the egg presently. 60 new images of the first egg
hatching and first chick feedings are now available to see at the KEEP web site
at: http://www.keepky.org/ in a new photo gallery. Note the white "egg tooth"
on the hatched chick used to break into the egg air sac and next make the first
hole in the egg shell for hatching. The egg tooth should fall off in a few
weeks.

Dont forget to refresh your on screen image about every 10 seconds when
viewing the daylight live images.

Driving thru the twin lakes area two days ago I noted a new osprey nest on a
tower at the east end of Barkley Dam and a second nest on the 68/80 bridge over
KY Lake perhaps indicating another record year for osprey nest numbers in the
lakes area. The high lake levels no doubt washed away any low tree snag nests
but KEEP donated four new platforms to KDFWR to give the two known low nesting
pairs a higher nest location option above Lake Barkley. I think at least one of
these pairs relocated before the high water.
