If you have not seen young ospreys preparing to leave their nest, now you can.
The two young ospreys at the KY Env. Ed. Projects (KEEP Inc.) Lake Barkley
Osprey Cam Nest are preparing for their first flights. Note how the female
lowers her head for obvious reasons during flight practice. Click on the note
on the home page to see yesterday's two new "Flight Training" saved video
clips. See live images at "2009 Osprey Cam" at the home page all
at: http://keepky.org/ Dont forget to refresh about every 12 seconds for a
new image. Post fledging we will likely keep the camera going for several more
weeks. Typically young ospreys return to their nests often until migrating out
of KY by the end of September. Since the cam nest is about 1/8 mile from the
lake, these young ospreys may tend not to return to their nest as often as the
vast majority of Lake Barkley osprey young that have their nests directly above
the water.
