[birdky] Old new Kentuckian...and Henslow's Sparrow

Greetings list...

I just accepted a position with the KDFWR as an avian research technician,
so I wanted to introduce myself to the list before you see any postings from
me and wondered who in the heck this new guy is. I graduated with a B.S. in
Wildlife Biology from Murray State in 2000, and have since finished (nearly)
my M.S. in Raptor Biology at Boise State in Idaho. After a brief stint in
Texas, Shawchyi Vorisek and Brian Smith (a fellow Boise alum) were generous
enough to offer me this position. I'm thrilled to be back in the great
state of KY, and I look forward to sharing our spectacular avifauna with
you. On to the birds...

Not sure how rare they are in these parts since I've been out of state so
long, but I observed a singing male HENSLOW'S SPARROW in my mother-in-law's
overgrown fields in SE Lexington on 4/29. I briefly checked the same area
today with no luck, but I'll keep checking.

It's certainly nice to be back.

Cheers,

Adam Smith
