Regarding the lack of Northern Shrike observation again today . . . in
correspondence with Ken Brock, who regularly sees the species along the
northern tier of counties in Indiana, he said that the birds up there can
have large winter territories and that it is not uncommon to see a bird at a
particular spot on only one in five visits. So while it is discouraging that
the bird is not holding tight to one area, this kind of info makes me
hopeful that it is around somewhere. I hope to get down there again later in
the week, perhaps Friday.
