A friend (Ed Ehrman, N. KY) located 20-30 white-winged crossbills in Cincinnati
on Thursday at Spring Grove Cemetery (very near the Cincy Zoo and easy to
find). On Friday, approximately 100 crossbills were seen, and a common redpoll
was reported by only 1 person. I was passing through Cincy today, so me and
several friends (including Ed) stopped by Spring Grove. We 'only' located ~ a
dozen crossbills and had a purple finch flyover, but another person we know
spotted a Cooper's Hawk that flushed ~50 crossbills from a large group of
spruce trees. After we left, we also got word from a colleague that 2 common
redpolls were confirmed. It's a pretty close trip if you can make it, but
also, keep your eyes peeled in KY!
