I drove up to Minor Clark Fish Hatchery today to look for the Piping Plovers Mike Wright reported
earlier. I found the other shorebirds he reported, but didn't see the Piping Plovers, at first. As I
started to turn the car around to look elsewhere I noticed a bird standing in the road. It sure did
blend in among those white rocks. It flew into one of the empty pools alone and that's where it was
when I left. It didn't join the other shorebirds. While I was there it mostly just stood and looked
around without doing much feeding. I wasn't able to locate the other one.
The great thing about shorebirds at Minor Clark is the wonderfully close looks
you get.
Thanks Mike for finding and reporting that pale, chubby, big-eyed cutie.
Birding smiles. . . . .
