[birdky] Minor Clark Fish Hatchery (7/20/06)

I made a trip down to the fish hatchery yesterday. I concentrated on the drained ponds and never really went birding in the back areas. Interesting that the last few trips I haven't seen any Kestrels, Hawks, Osprey.....or last year's Peregrine Falcon. There are plenty of drained ponds to check out and a lot of good habitat for the shorebirds. I spent about 4 hours there and checked them all....several times.

Pond #15 held all the good shorebirds except the Solitary Sandpipers that were in the back (Pond #68).

2 Pectoral Sandpipers
3 Solitary Sandpipers
4 Least Sandpipers
1 Short-billed Dowitcher
Killdeer

I've updated my website to reflect the shorebirds that I photographed. They're certainly not as exciting as the Ruff.....but they're still a lot of fun. I'll be headed to Lake Erie next week so I'm hoping that by the end of the week the page will be overflowing with shorebirds.
