I made a trip to the fish hatchery this morning. The fog didn't
lift until around 9:30am. Most of the small ponds have been drained
and one of the 3 large ponds was completely drained. They have just
begun to drain the other two large ponds and there was a small
mudflat edge at one end on both. I don't know how long it takes to
drain them but as they drain and form more of an edge, it could
certainly prove to be good habitat for whatever shorebirds are still
on the move. The shorebirds were pretty skittish but I didn't see
the Peregrine Falcon.
Trip list:
8 Pectoral Sandpipers
1 Least Sandpiper
1 Solitary Sandpiper
2 Greater Yellowlegs
Many Killdeer
