I made my first trip to McElroy Lake yesterday after the rains. Habitat seemed to be good for an assortment of birds. Numbers of peeps were staggering to me. I am a novice of i.d.'s yet but it was a beautiful seen. My family was with me so we pulled in the south gravel road just long enough to get me drewling at the mouth. I did get a good look at a male and female blue winged teal. There appeared to be a solo gull there but I am not sure. It was a beautiful sight and I will be back! When I can spend a little more time. Lake level looked good but it probably won't last without additional rains.
